Environmental
Westcan Recyclers is proud of its contributions to the Canadian recycling effort and is committed to the preservation of our environment and its limited natural resources. By recycling large quantities of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, Westcan helps eliminate the need to continuously drill for new raw materials. These efforts create sustainable resources and development in our world by reducing environmental waste, landfill waste, and the negative impact of resource extraction on the environment. Metal recycling also creates employment opportunities, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, conserves water, and reduces energy usage.
Westcan also concerns itself with its own environmental impacts, and thus commissions environmental assessments on an ongoing basis to ensure the company is well above industry standards and regulations.
Safety
Westcan drivers, equipment and machine operators receive ongoing training to meet and surpass industry standards. All equipment is inspected daily and a preventive maintenance program is executed by qualified and specialized trained personnel. On-site mechanics ensure continued efficiency and reduced down times due to required repairs and maintenance.
